Thanks For The Memories

The University of Maine mens ice hockey season came to an end this past Saturday night. Although Maine won the the last 5 of 6 games they played, it was not enough to put them in the top 8 teams making the playoffs for Hockey East. This is the first time since 1997 that the team did not make the playoffs. It was a good game with Maine winning on a goal from senior Captain Travis Ramsay in overtime.

Since it was Seniors night, after the game each senior spoke individually about their time spent playing hockey at Maine. It was great listening to them speak and giving thanks to the coaches, team mates, families, fans and students. It was quite comical to hear some of the thanks they gave, especially when Brett Tyler thanked a woman that works in the Athletic Academic Support Program for helping to keep him elligible and then Vince Laise thanked the three goal tenders from other teams for allowing him to score 3 G-notes in his college career.

Maine loses 8 very talented seniors this season, Travis Ramsey, Brett Tyler, Vince Laise, Rob Bellamy, Keenan Hopson, Billy Ryan, Wes Clark & Nolan Boike. I must say I am going to miss watching Rob Bellamy play the most. He is a young man from Westfield, Massachusettes that plays with his whole heart and soul. He is always where the excitement is, most of the time because he is the cause. He has been drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers.

Good Luck to all the Seniors as you begin the next chapter in the journey of life. To the underclassmen, Enjoy your off season and I am looking forward to seeing you take the ice once again in October. Once again, Thanks for all the memories.
